Veins containing quartz, calcite and chalcopyrite were reported on Conover Mountain. This occurrence is underlain by undifferentiated volcanic and sedimentary rocks of the Upper Triassic Stuhini Group (GSC Map 11-1971).

In 1948, Kerr reported on Conover Mountain (Geological Survey of Canada 246).

Assessment Report 18134, 21883 (Map 1) shows that the area of the Conover Mountain showing was prospected by International Phoenix Energy Corp and Prolific Resources in 1988 and by Skeena Resources Ltd (formerly Prolific) in 1991 as the MJ claims. Though the Conover Mountain occurrence was plotted in the area of the MJ 5 claim it may be on a nearby claim such as the northeast corner of the MJ 3 claim where several anomalous samples were obtained, such as sample WM-39. This sample of mafic volcanic rock contained chalcopyrite and pyrite and assayed 2.48 grams per tonne gold, 33.3 grams per tonne silver and 1.75 per cent copper (Map 1, Assessment Report 18134).

See Drapich (104B 011) for further details of the MJ claims.
